Want to Live Bigger❗️
John 5:6-7
6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
Observations:
Why would Jesus ask the man, “Do you want to be healed?”v6
*He could be content to depend on others, some are.
*He could have given up on ever being healed.
*He may be unwilling to take his eyes off hopes for angels, for magical waters or someone to help him get to the water.
Will he trust Jesus? Will he believe Jesus can make a difference? Will he give his full attention to Jesus? If so, he will find help.
In my life I have seen many a wrestler & coach work hard & then look to luck to win. It is so easy to rely on luck/fate. It is easy to dream of super human knowledge, skill & strength to reach goals. I find athletes & coaches doing it often. Instead of trusting in the truth of preparation we turn to luck.
While Iowa State U. was winning National Championships I recall a coach wanting my warmup while I wrestled. After he taught me the skills of the game and conditioned me, he said, “We find you win more when we drape your warmup over our arm.” After the match we talked about all the work he had us do. I told him I stood with his training not his superstition. He apologized and assured me he would not ask for my warmup again.
