Can a sophomore wrestle 15U?

No. Once a wrestler has competed at D-Day following their 9th grade year, they are 18U for the rest of the season and beyond, regardless of age.

D-Day is the dividing line. A wrestler finishing their freshman year may wrestle 15U through D-Day, inclusive - that is their last 15U event. Every event after D-Day, they wrestle 18U.

Whether their school has started yet does not change this. D-Day lands right across the start of the school year, so some athletes are already in class and some have two weeks left. Eligibility is set by the event, not the school calendar.

Wrestlers who have completed 10th grade or higher are not eligible for 15U at any event.

Rookie Division Eligibility – 2-Year Limit from Start Date

At RMN Events, the Rookie Division is reserved for athletes who are within their first two years (730 days) of wrestling experience. This is measured from the wrestler’s first recorded competition, not just RMN participation.

Once an athlete reaches 730 days from their first competition, they are no longer eligible for the Rookie division—regardless of any breaks, injuries, or gaps in participation.

We use any available wrestling profile to determine this start date—typically, but not limited to, RMN Events, Trackwrestling, and FloWrestling records. For example, if a wrestler competed for 6 months in 2021, took two years off, and returned in 2024, they are considered beyond rookie status because their first match was over two years ago.

If you are interested in helping us out with table help, please email info@rmnevents.com.

At RMN Events competitors or coaches will not need any cards or membership to participate.
