Truthful Witnesses🤙

John 5:36-41

 Jesus speaks more yet:

36 “But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

37 And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.

38 But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. 39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

41 I do not receive honor from men.”

Comments:

Greater witness than John the Baptist.v36a

It is like He calls witnesses to the courtroom stand to verify His claims to be God's Son.

 Who are his witnesses? 1. His works & His miracles proved that Jesus was sent by God the Father.v37

 2. Next He puts God the Father on the witness stand.v37, 38 & 39.

3. Then He calls in the Scriptures, the written Word of God as evidence to prove He came from God.

 What do we do with the miracles and the scriptures? If we just passover them, we do not believe they are a proof. All 66 books of the Bible speak of Christ & prepare us for Him.

 If we ignore His Word, we don't believe Him & we discredit Him and His proves.v40 The result; we do not receive eternal life. Don't reject witnesses that point to the source of life.
