By Bill X. Barron – RMN Events Writer

Rocky Mountain National Events is proud to host the 9th annual Middle School State Regional and to introduce the Super State K-5 Elementary School Regional.  These regionals are held together on Saturday, March 24th, in six geographical sites:  Adams State University (Alamosa), Castle View High School (Castle Rock), Fort Lupton High School, Grand Junction High School, La Junta Jr./Sr. High School, and Standley Lake High School (Windsor).

The top six middle school and top four elementary placers in every weight qualify for the Colorado Middle and Super State Championship on March 30-31, 2018 at the National Western Event Complex in Denver.  All qualifiers for State participate for free courtesy of RMN Events.  Championship finals are held on a raised platform.  The overall goal is to prepare individuals for placement in the CHSAA High School State Championships later in their careers.

Current USA World Junior and Senior team member, and 2016 World Bronze Medalist, Tracy G’Angelo Hancock began his wrestling career as an RMN Colorado Middle School Champion.  “While growing up, Rocky Mountain National Events was the place to be, the big thing to win,“ says G’Angelo.  “Not only was RMN where I could get a huge trophy, but it also prepared me for the big stage.  I thank RMN for the opportunity to grow as a person.  RMN taught me to have a champion mindset, for which I am forever grateful.”

All supporters of Colorado youth wrestling are encouraged to participate in or attend the Regional in your area.  Wrestling begins on Saturday, March 24th at 8:30 am with middle school competition in grades 6-8, then continues in the afternoon with the elementary K-5 tournament.  You are also invited to watch the K-8 State Championships that begins on Friday, March 30th at 5 pm, and which continues on Saturday at 9 am.
