We’re a week away from Grand Canyon Nationals and that means wrestlers from across the nation are busy preparing for the event. One of the top youth wrestlers you’ll see out on the mat is JJ Pahl, 8. After a tough loss to Israel Borge at his first Monster Match in the beginning of November, Pahl’s father says he’s been working hard on closing the gap between him and other competitors.
“Israel is an exceptional wrestler, everything he does is done with a purpose,” says Pahl’s father, “we just need to work on staying in position and trying to negate his speed.”
Pahl has been wrestling since he was five and has been able to be apart of a few different clubs since he started the sport. The bounce back and forth between clubs has given Pahl the opportunity to work under different coaching styles as well as being able to wrestle new competitors more frequently.
Pahl’s father says they have their eyes set on Kane Shawger out of Ohio, stating that he’s the best in the nation for his age division right now and in order to “be the best, you have to beat the best.” Although, they like the challenge of all the elite wrestlers that Pahl gets to wrestle through RMN Events.
Pahl has wrestled in quite a few of RMN Events’ tournaments saying that they try to make it to as many as possible because of the great competition as well as how “well run RMN Events are.” If you haven’t yet, register your wrestler for Grand Canyon Nationals today and watch for JJ Pahl out on the mats!
