Mt. Rushmore – Family Vacation AND Wrestling!

By Bill X. Barron, RMN Events Writer

Have you ever wanted to combine a family vacation AND a quality wrestling tournament at the same time? Look no further, for RMN Events has done the planning for you! Designed as a mid-week, post-school trip, this midweek tournament during the 2nd week of June has it all: competitive female and coed duals in all age groups on Wednesday as well as individual competition in both folkstyle and freestyle on Thursday. Make a family or team trip out of it by coming earlier or staying later!

The Mount Rushmore Mayhem is motivation enough to come to Rapid City, South Dakota. In addition to top-caliber competition, especially from the northern states as well as the Midwest and West, this vacation destination offers multiple state parks, monuments, museums, and scenery – all within a few hours’ drive.

See article on the ARES team from Michigan which is bringing a top-tier team to Mt. Rushmore. If you would like your team to be featured, send your team name, state, division(s), and coach’s name with email address as well as cell number to Bill:

The central attraction is the stupendous Mt. Rushmore with the heads of four U.S. Presidents carved into the rock: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. Nearby state and national parks include The Badlands, Crazy Horse, and Custer. For the adventurous souls, climb Devil’s Tower (see home page story on Seamus Casey), explore the Wind and Jewel Caves, and hike the legendary Black Hills. Be sure to check out the Minuteman Missile Historical Site.

As with all RMN Events, it is crucial that you and your team sign up early before the event is sold out! Weigh-ins for duals are on Tuesday (which certifies you for both days) or Wednesday if you are only doing the individual folkstyle and freestyle. See the tournament page for more details.
