Greeley Central High Schools’ undefeated freshman had a quick chat with AWP to give us a loose sketch of his wrestling beginnings, his prospects for the upcoming season, and his high ambitions for his future in the sport.
Starting at the age of 4, Alirez has always had a passion for wrestling. As an undefeated middle school state champion, the stakes are high as he enters his freshman year at Greeley Central High School. Extremely motivated and dedicated to his sport, wrestling is always on his mind. When asked what his goals are his response was, “I want to go undefeated, I want the Super 32 title and to keep on winning.” Long term goals include not only winning 4 state titles and going to the Olympics, but he wants to be the youngest wrestler there!
Confident and collected, Alirez says that he is not concerned about his future match ups at Freakshow and Monster Match nationals. Having thousands of people watching in person and by live stream only improves his performace and sets the stakes higher. He would be happy to go up against anyone in the top 5, includind Dayton Fixx and Therious Robinson. When asked about a Folkstyle match against Robinson, which many fans would love to see, Alirez calmly replied, “If it happens, it happens. But it’s not something I am chasing down.”
Alirez has his sights set on attending university at Arizona State, UNC, or Iowa—but for now all focus remains on the present and becoming the greatest wrestler ever.
